More than half of recent bets back Saints for promotion as odds tumble

More than half of recent bets on the Championship promotion market have backed Southampton to return to the Premier League. According to data from Oddschecker, 56 percent of promotion wagers placed over the previous 48 to 72 hours favored the Saints. The betting surge followed a win against QPR, giving head coach Tonda Eckert's side four victories from their last five matches since the international break.

Following the run of form, Southampton's promotion odds narrowed from 3/1 to 6/5 within a week, while their odds to win the league dropped from 12/1 to 5/1. The club sits fifth in the table, three points behind Swansea City and five points off league leaders Middlesbrough, who remain promotion favorites at 1/3.
