Daniel Johnson has been without a club since the end of last season, but he's now set to make his return to the game with Barnsley.

Barnsley are set to sign free agent midfielder Daniel Johnson, according to reporter Pete O'Rourke. The 34-year-old Jamaica international has been without a club since his contract expired with Turkish side Fatih Karagumruk and recently maintained fitness at the PFA's free agent training camp. The move marks Johnson's return to the English Football League under manager Daniel Stendel.
Johnson brings extensive Championship experience, having made 319 appearances in the division during spells with Preston North End and Stoke City. Despite existing midfield options at Oakwell, the writer notes that signing Johnson on a free transfer provides a low-risk addition of pedigree and creative depth.
