When George Berry reflects on his time at Wolves, he’s reminded of his first footballing home, but also of difficult times as a youngster.

In celebration of Black History Month, Wolverhampton Wanderers icon George Berry reflected on his career, challenges with racism, and legacy at the club. Spotted by former Wolves player Alun Evans as a child, Berry joined the club as an apprentice in 1973 and went on to become the first Black player to win a trophy with Wolves.
Berry discussed overcoming racial abuse from crowds and cultural misunderstandings in football, using adversity as motivation throughout his career. During his time at Molineux, he was named Players' Player of the Year in 1979 and won the League Cup in 1980.
