The Story of Wolves | Molineux: A historic home (part 4)

In part four of the historic Molineux retrospective, club historian Pete Crump details stadium transformations following Wolverhampton Wanderers' promotion to the Premier League in 2003. Wolves renamed the John Ireland Stand to the Steve Bull Stand in August 2003, honoring the club's all-time top goalscorer. The unveiling took place during Wolves' first home Premier League fixture against Charlton Athletic alongside former owner Sir Jack Hayward.

Additionally, the club expanded Molineux's seating capacity by constructing a temporary stand between the South Bank and Billy Wright Stand. The addition accommodated over 800 seats and debuted against Chelsea in September 2003 before being renamed the Graham Hughes Stand in December 2003.
