Phil Parkinson says the response against Middlesbrough was exactly what he had been looking for after slamming his side's first-half performance in the previous game.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson praised his side's response after securing a 2-0 victory against Championship leaders Middlesbrough at The Racecourse. Following a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United where he questioned their effort, Parkinson saw his team rebound with a structured and physical display. Second-half goals from George Thomason and substitute Ollie Rathbone sealed the crucial win to move Wrexham up to 16th in the table.
Thomason, returning to the starting lineup after a 10-game absence due to a thigh injury, opened the scoring in the 70th minute from a Kieffer Moore knock-down. Rathbone later sealed the result with a header from Lewis O'Brien's delivery. Parkinson singled out O'Brien's performance in the number 10 role as outstanding, praising his pressing and energy behind Moore in a 3-5-1-1 setup.
