The Story in 60 Seconds

Robbie Savage has vowed to prove his critics wrong after being appointed as the new manager of Peterborough United on a long-term contract. Savage departed National League side Forest Green Rovers to take the role, which represents his first managerial post in the Football League since retiring as a player in 2011. Peterborough currently sit second from bottom in the table following the dismissal of former manager Luke Williams last month.

Savage previously managed Macclesfield, leading them to promotion to the National League North, before joining Forest Green in 2025. At Peterborough, he reunites with former Wrexham players Tom O'Connor and Harry Ashfield. Chairman Darragh MacAnthony commended Savage's mindset and hunger to restore confidence in the squad, with Savage expected to take charge for Tuesday's Football League Trophy match against Ipswich Under-21s.
