Leicester City chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha has addressed supporters in his programme notes ahead of the Burton Albion fixture, stressing the need for progress despite reports that King Power is actively seeking buyers for the club for $300m.
Off the pitch, global investment bank CitiGroup is marketing the club’s full portfolio of assets—including the King Power Stadium, Seagrave training ground, Belvoir Drive, and the Women’s team—via a sales document named ‘Project Lineup’. After 16 years of ownership, the Srivaddhanaprabha family are reportedly seeking around $300m (£222m). Despite intense off-field noise, the chairman attended the recent Carabao Cup fixture against Northampton Town, reinforcing his backing for nine summer arrivals brought in to revamp the squad.
Acknowledging the scale of structural change currently underway at the club, he stated: “We know there is a lot of work ahead of us, as we begin a new season with a new Manager, new ideas and new players,” while making clear that early promise must yield concrete points. Addressing the necessity of turning performances into wins, he added: “There have already been encouraging signs, but we know that results are how that progress will ultimately be measured.”
Supporter backing remains vital as the club navigates this period of structural transition and sale rumors. Commending the away fans following their trip, he wrote: “Thank you to the 2,123 supporters who travelled to Nottingham last weekend. Travelling support has always been an important part of this Club and will give strength to the team in important moments this season.”
The immediate tactical focus now turns to establishing control at home and generating crucial early-season momentum. He concluded: “The same will be true here at King Power Stadium, where today’s game gives us our first opportunity to compete for league points at home. We know how important our performances here will be and everyone at the Club is looking forward to the challenge.”
