Martin knows his current options simply are not strong enough. Asked directly how many more additions he expects before the transfer deadline, the manager admitted: “I think we’ll probably, without giving really specific positions, I still think we’ll end up with three or four players coming in the building before the end of the window.” That blunt admission highlights the massive rescue operation now underway behind the scenes.

Leicester travel to face Ipswich Town on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup with mounting pressure on the dugout. Martin dropped hints that a fresh face could arrive in defense before that clash, but the club must act swiftly to halt the downward slide. Addressing the urgent recruitment drive, Martin said: “Nothing’s changed. I think we have to strengthen in certain areas that we don’t feel as strong as others. So nothing’s really changed.” Unless the board delivers these late signings, Leicester risk turning an early slump into a disastrous campaign.
