Leicester City has completed the £75,000 signing of winger Wes Burns on a three-year contract. The 31-year-old reunites with former Ipswich Town teammate Conor Chaplin, giving manager Russell Martin vital attacking versatility ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Burns arrives at the King Power Stadium to fill the void left on the right flank by Abdul Fatawu, joining options alongside Will Alves and Riley Carr. The bargain deal snaps up a player who helped Ipswich rise through three promotions in four seasons, providing proven quality in third-tier football alongside recent summer recruits Conor Chaplin, Liam Cullen, and Tommy Watson.
Martin wants a flexible attack capable of tearing down different defensive setups. Rejoining Chaplin on the right side of the attack promises immediate dividends. Speaking about their bond, Chaplin made clear how critical Burns was to his own output: “Off the pitch, he was amazing for the group, really amazing,” before detailing their remarkable telepathy on the pitch.
Chaplin added: “I think he’s made me look a lot better player than what I maybe could have ever looked before. The telepathy that we had on the pitch in terms of the way each other played, what we wanted from each other – I’ve never experienced with anyone else ever.”
That sharp understanding could transform Leicester’s right wing. Unlocking Chaplin’s best form gives Martin a ruthless frontline as the Foxes push for dominance this season. Reflecting further on their connection, Chaplin stated: “He’s probably the most understanding I’ve ever had with any teammate. Leif [Davis] was very close but I was a lot closer to Wes, [spent] a lot of time actually talking in game as well because we were so close on the pitch.”
