Will Smallbone signed a three-year contract with Leicester City this week
Will Smallbone has explained that his transfer to Leicester City was a long time in the making following his permanent departure from Southampton. The 26-year-old midfielder signed a three-year contract with the Foxes, expressing excitement to join a big club and prioritize regular game time after injury limited him to just 10 loan appearances at Millwall last season.
A major factor behind the move was reuniting with manager Russell Martin, who previously guided Smallbone to Premier League promotion at Southampton in 2024. Smallbone joins former Southampton teammates Liam Cullen, Alex McCarthy, and Franco Ravizzoli in linking up with Martin at Leicester City.
