Decisions to be made over Jarvis Thornton’s Sheffield Wednesday future

Sheffield Wednesday are considering sending 20-year-old midfielder Jarvis Thornton out on loan in the coming weeks, manager Henrik Pedersen confirmed. Thornton made 23 Championship appearances last season but has seen his playing opportunities diminish following summer midfield additions. He has featured in five of the club's 10 matches this season, most recently playing the full match during Tuesday's EFL Trophy win over Salford City.

Pedersen explained that the club is actively discussing a loan move to help Thornton gain valuable match practice. Because the standard transfer window is closed, Wednesday are looking at flexible short-term loan options to non-league clubs in the fifth and sixth tiers, which sporting director Wilson noted offers strong senior competition and useful recall flexibility.
