James Bord is set to take control of another club after his failed bid to buy Sheffield Wednesday in February.

Former Sheffield Wednesday takeover bidder James Bord and his Park Bench consortium have reached an agreement to acquire troubled French club Bordeaux for €1. The deal, announced on Monday morning, includes writing off millions in debts accumulated under previous owner Gerard Lopez. Relevant authorities will interview Bord and his partners before the takeover is officially finalized.
Bordeaux supporters widely celebrated the announcement following years of financial turmoil that saw the six-time Ligue 1 champions relegated to the fifth tier and excluded from national competitions. Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday have moved forward under new owners David Storch and Arise Capital following Bord's previous collapsed bid at Hillsborough.
