The Story in 60 Seconds

Sheffield Wednesday winger Joel Akpobi has completed a remarkable journey to senior football, registering an assist and being named man of the match on his debut in a 2-1 EFL Trophy victory against Salford City. The 18-year-old previously faced rejection after trials at Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic before earning his opportunity through Croydon-based non-profit XYZ Football Academy.
