Managerless Sheffield Wednesday were held to a 1-1 draw by Cambridge United at Hillsborough in Sky Bet League One. Mason Burstow opened the scoring for the Owls in the 50th minute, firing in off the post after a free-kick from Callum Slattery. Cambridge substitute Sullay Kaikai equalized in the 67th minute, converting a square pass from Shayne Lavery to ensure the points were shared.
The match was Wednesday's first fixture following the weekend sacking of manager Henrik Pedersen. Both teams pushed for a winner late in the game, with Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan striking the post from distance while Cambridge created several opportunities during a frantic closing goalmouth scramble.
