Liverpool will look to protect their perfect Champions League start when Villarreal visit Anfield, but they're also planning transfers.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool's potential permanent move for Ronald Araújo is "definitely one to watch" for 2027. The Uruguayan defender joined the Reds on a season-long loan from Barcelona in August, with the deal containing an option to make the transfer permanent for approximately £47 million. Romano noted that early feedback on Araújo is positive and the defender is enjoying life in Liverpool.
Liverpool will reportedly evaluate the £180,000-per-week center-back's performances and fitness across the season before deciding on a permanent transfer, with no decision expected in January. Meanwhile, manager Andoni Iraola's squad is preparing to face Villarreal in the Champions League, despite managing several squad absences including Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong.
