Key Things to Know

  • Manager David Moyes still aims to sign a striker and one additional player during the January transfer window.
The Story in 60 Seconds

The Friedkin Group (TFG) has put Everton up for sale with an asking price of around £800m, inclusive of roughly £380m in debt. TFG, led by Dan Friedkin, acquired 99.5 percent of the club in 2024 for over £400m but decided to sell after realizing they could not meet the expectations of Everton supporters. Investment bank Moelis and Company is handling the process, with owners confident a full sale can be agreed before the season ends.

Despite the impending sale, Everton officials confirmed there will be no immediate job cuts or operational changes under chief executive Angus Kinnear. Manager David Moyes, who has not spoken directly with Dan Friedkin in 21 months, retains backing and hopes to sign a striker and one other player in January, though Manchester United is assessing a move for defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
