The Story in 60 Seconds

CF Montreal announced on Friday that individuals identified in violent protests at Stade Saputo will face lifetime stadium bans. The incident occurred following Montreal's Canadian Championship final shootout defeat against Forge FC, when supporters threw flares, pyrotechnics, and debris onto the pitch and toward security staff, alongside acts of concourse vandalism.

In response, the club confirmed it will increase police presence and heighten security for upcoming matches, including their fixture against Nashville SC. CF Montreal also warned that repeated incidents could lead to the closure of supporter sections, marking their latest disciplinary measure after previously issuing bans in August for antisemitic abuse.
