The two best teams in Spain go head-to-head on Sunday when Jonathan David’s Atletico Madrid hosts LaLiga leaders Barcelona. There’s a lot of soccer to be played still this season, but even on matchday 12 it feels like a game…
Jonathan David and Atletico Madrid are preparing to host league leaders Barcelona at the Estadio Metropolitano in a pivotal matchday 12 clash atop LaLiga. Barcelona enters the fixture at 10-0-1, holding a narrow advantage over second-place Atletico, who sit at 9-1-1. A victory for the hosts would push them into first place, while a Barcelona win would extend their lead at the summit to five points.
Atletico have won seven consecutive league matches since David debuted, though they suffered a midweek Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich. David is expected to start against Barcelona, a club he pursued joining during the summer before a transfer failed to materialize.
