The Vancouver Whitecaps suffered a 1-0 defeat against the Colorado Rapids, reducing their lead at the top of the Western Conference to just one point. Rapids designated player Morgan Whittaker scored the decisive goal in the 81st minute, heading home a rebound off the crossbar. The loss was compounded by injuries to key attackers Emmanuel Sabbi and Yadaly Diaby, who were both forced off during the game.
Sabbi exited in the 27th minute with a leg problem, while Diaby was substituted at halftime. Despite six saves from Vancouver goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka, Jesper Sorensen's squad failed to register a shot on target in the second half. Off the pitch, the club continues to face long-term uncertainty regarding ownership and its stadium situation at BC Place.
