The Republic of Ireland slipped to a 1-0 defeat away to Kosovo in their Nations League opener in Pristina.

The Republic of Ireland suffered a 1-0 defeat against Kosovo in their UEFA Nations League Group B3 opener in Pristina. Kosovo captain Vedat Muriqi scored the winning goal from close range in the 83rd minute to secure the victory for the hosts. Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson fielded a lineup featuring Udinese defender James Abankwah making his first competitive start alongside captain Dara O'Shea.
Ireland struggled to generate momentum, with Chiedozie Ogbene firing their only significant chance over the crossbar in the first half. Goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, along with goal-line clearances from Jayson Molumby and O'Shea, kept the visitors level before Muriqi's late decider broke the deadlock.
