Hearts manager Wouter Vrancken has revealed that he rejected a managerial offer from Bulgarian club Ludogorets that was worth double his salary at Tynecastle. Speaking in an interview in Belgium, the 47-year-old manager explained that he prioritized the project, club culture, and advice from Vincent Kompany over financial incentives when choosing to manage the Edinburgh side.
Vrancken also criticized Hearts' pre-season preparations, which were scheduled before his arrival and left the squad unready for early European qualifying ties against Sturm Graz and Benfica. Looking forward on his two-year contract, Vrancken stated his long-term ambition is to progress and eventually compete with Celtic and Rangers for the league title.
