Emma Hayes and the United States Women's National Team are set to face reigning world champions Spain in two October friendlies ahead of the 2026 CONCACAF W Championship. The fixtures will take place at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. on October 10 and Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania on October 13. Spain currently holds the number one international ranking by FIFA, while the USWNT holds a 3-1-0 all-time series advantage.
Spain manager Sonia Bermúdez has implemented a high-pressing 4-3-3 formation that prioritizes possession and vertical transitions. The roster features key stars such as Alexia Putellas, Salma Paralluelo, and Irene Paredes, but will be missing notable players including Aitana Bonmatí and Olga Carmona. Both squads are expected to utilize the two matches to experiment tactically ahead of future major international tournaments.
