Ambitious Afan United braced for historic Welsh Cup tie

Tier 4 side Afan United are preparing for the biggest match in their history when they face Cymru Premier club Briton Ferry Llansawel in Round 2 of the FAW Welsh Cup. Manager Vince Lewis emphasized that his squad will enter the contest with a structured game plan and strong character, even though several young players will be adjusting to a higher level of intensity and tempo against top-division opposition.

Formed in 2020, the Port Talbot club has earned four promotions and recently opened its new £1.1 million Sean McCreesh Memorial Ground. Afan United reached the second round after scoring 12 goals across earlier rounds, including a 4-3 victory over Penygraig United, though they will be without suspended players Leon Rayner and Ben Thomas for Friday's encounter.
