Ireland players make protest against Israel by lowering heads during national anthem

Republic of Ireland players protested against Israel prior to their UEFA Nations League fixture in Hungary on Sunday. The Irish team lowered their heads during the playing of the Israeli national anthem, wore black armbands, and refused to participate in the pre-match handshakes or pennant exchange.

Ireland went on to defeat Israel 3-0, with first-half goals scored by Troy Parrott, Adam Idah, and Jack Moylan. Captain Dara O'Shea represented Ireland at the coin toss alongside Manor Solomon, while goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu withdrew from the fixture ahead of the match.
