Chelsea ready to launch ambitious move to sign Real Madrid star if opportunity arises

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to launch an ambitious permanent transfer move for Real Madrid right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold if he becomes available, according to journalist Simon Phillips. The Blues are monitoring the England international's situation in Spain, where things have reportedly not fully gone to plan for him at the Santiago Bernabeu following his previous departure from Liverpool.

Mark Brus notes that Chelsea already possess right-back options in Reece James, Malo Gusto, and Marco Palestra, though James has faced ongoing injury concerns. The report also highlights that under manager Xabi Alonso, Alexander-Arnold could potentially fit as a wing-back in a 3-4-3 system or provide cover in central midfield.
