Alessandro Bastoni open to Barcelona move: Why Hansi Flick must swallow his pride this January

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is reportedly open to joining Barcelona in the January transfer window, but he wants direct reassurance from manager Hansi Flick after a proposed move fell through last summer. Parag J Kalita of Everything Barca argues that Flick must reconsider his previous stance and urge sporting director Deco to complete the signing to address severe defensive shortages.

Barcelona have suffered from an injury crisis that has left just four fit defenders, culminating in costly back-to-back defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. The author contends that securing Bastoni's left-footed passing ability and physical presence alongside Pau Cubarsi would solidify Barcelona's fragile backline and elevate the squad into an elite European contender.
