Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has been secretly donating two percent of his annual salary to support families in Croatia. The charitable contributions were revealed by his agent Andy Bara and confirmed by Olmo ahead of Spain's 2-1 victory over Croatia in Split. Olmo explained that he wanted to repay the country after spending five formative years playing for Dinamo Zagreb early in his career.
The donations are directed to the Vukovar charitable foundation through the Common Goal initiative co-founded by Juan Mata. Olmo began the contributions after leaving Dinamo Zagreb, continuing the payments throughout his tenures at RB Leipzig and FC Barcelona to assist survivors of the 1991 siege of Vukovar.
