‘Barcelona wanted Mika Marmol’ – Catalans came close to re-signing former defender

Barcelona reportedly came close to re-signing defender Mika Marmol during the January transfer window. Las Palmas president Miguel Ángel Ramírez revealed that the Catalan club was prepared to trigger a five million euro option to bring the former defender back to the Camp Nou before ultimately deciding against the move.

Marmol, who left Barcelona for Andorra in 2022 and later played for Las Palmas, was reportedly left bewildered by the late change of heart. Following Las Palmas' failure to secure promotion, the defender subsequently completed a permanent transfer to Dutch club Feyenoord in the summer.
