Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho stated that Barcelona's Joao Cancelo should have received a red card during El Clasico. Speaking in a post-match news conference, Mourinho claimed that Cancelo deserved to be dismissed in the 60th minute for a challenge on Yan Diomande, arguing that the VAR failed to intervene in a moment that would have altered the contest.
Despite the refereeing grievance, Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1, handing their rivals their first La Liga defeat of the season. Mourinho praised his team's disciplined and organized performance in the high-level match, which left Madrid in third place, trailing Barcelona by three points.
