Lamine Yamal won the Kopa Trophy for a third time on Monday night at the Ballon d’Or awards in London. During his acceptance speech, the Barcelona star stated that his teammate Pau Cubarsi deserved the honor and should have won the award instead.
Both Yamal and Cubarsi won LaLiga with Barcelona and contributed to Spain's World Cup victory. Cubarsi did not attend the London ceremony, opting to remain in Barcelona to rest following a demanding week of fixtures.
