Which ‘top center-back’ should Barcelona look to sign in January?

Barcelona are actively seeking a top-level center-back during the January transfer window to resolve an ongoing defensive injury crisis, Renato Gonçalves reports. Following costly losses against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, the Catalan club has reportedly earmarked transfer funds that were previously reserved for an unsuccessful pursuit of forward Julián Álvarez.

According to a Mundo Deportivo report cited by the author, Manchester City's Josko Gvardiol and Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni represent primary targets, though both permanent deals present significant obstacles. More attainable targets reportedly include Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez, Real Betis's Natan, and Stuttgart's Finn Jeltsch, who is considered manager Hansi Flick's preferred option.
