The Story in 60 Seconds

Former Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal has reached a verbal agreement to join fellow Madrid-based side Getafe on a free transfer, according to reporter Fabrizio Romano. The 34-year-old defender had been without a club since his contract with Real Madrid expired at the end of last season. He is scheduled to undergo medical tests ahead of completing the move.

The signing comes as a direct request from Getafe's coach, who sought an experienced wide option following the club's seventh-place finish and qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League. Carvajal previously drew interest from Premier League sides Liverpool and Fulham before opting to remain in Spain's capital.
