Kylian Mbappé finished second in the 70th Ballon d’Or rankings at the ceremony hosted in London, while Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane won the award. Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal finished third. Mbappé was the sole Real Madrid player inside the top 10, with teammate Jude Bellingham narrowly missing out in 11th place and Vinícius Júnior finishing 17th.
The ceremony marked Real Madrid's first appearance at the event since 2023 following a two-year absence. The club had previously boycotted the ceremony in 2024 when Rodri won the award, and stayed away again in 2025 when Ousmane Dembélé claimed the trophy.
