Alexis Mac Allister revealed it was a "painful" and "unpleasant" decision when Liverpool informed him they did not plan to renew his contract. The Argentina midfielder, who has 18 months left on his deal running until 2028, admitted that "anything can happen" regarding his future amid reported interest from Real Madrid.
Despite the lack of an extension, Mac Allister expressed hope that recent changes under new manager Andoni Iraola could lead to a U-turn. Liverpool previously offered the 27-year-old to potential suitors during the summer, but he reiterated that his primary desire remains staying on Merseyside.
