Broken down at Tottenham, co-top scorer in the history of the Espoirs: the immense paradox Mathys Tel

Mathys Tel faces a sharp contrast between his club struggles at Tottenham and his international success with France Espoirs. At Tottenham under manager Roberto De Zerbi, Tel has scored just one goal in eight games as the club sits last in the Premier League without a victory. However, on international duty, Tel netted a hat-trick in a 7-1 win over Switzerland under Gérald Baticle, matching Odsonne Édouard's record of 17 goals.

Manu Tournoux highlights that despite De Zerbi starting Tel seven times this season, the forward and Spurs remain mired in offensive difficulties. Meanwhile, the captain led the Bleuets to Euro 2027 qualification undefeated, leaving questions about whether Tel can successfully translate his clinical international form back into the Premier League.
