The Story in 60 Seconds

Marc Rétali has spoken out following his rapid dismissal from his role as the podiatrist for the France national team under Zinédine Zidane. Appointed on August 13, Rétali was informed just two days later on August 15 that his collaboration with the French Football Federation (FFF) would not continue. The FFF accused him of failing in his duty of reserve after he gave an interview to RMC Sport on the day his appointment was announced.

Rétali contested the severity of the sanction, arguing that he had not yet signed his contract or been made aware of a strict media ban when he spoke to journalists. He received his contract on August 14, which was when he first discovered the reserve clause. Rétali believes the Federation used him to make an example to the rest of the newly constituted staff.
