The longest holder of the record for selections for the French team, for almost 30 years, Roger Marche was one…

Roger Marche was a star left-back who captained Stade de Reims and became the beloved star of RC Paris at the Parc des Princes. Marche held the French national team caps record for nearly 30 years from 1955 to 1983 with 63 appearances. He captained France to a third-place finish at the 1958 World Cup alongside Raymond Kopa and Just Fontaine.
Before joining RC Paris in 1954, Marche won two league titles with Albert Batteux's Stade de Reims. RC Paris subsequently suffered financial decline, prompting the eventual creation of Paris Saint-Germain in 1970.
