Real Betis: the incredible explosion of new Irish hero Troy Parrott

At 24 years old, Irish striker Troy Parrott is experiencing a breakthrough phase in his career across both club and international football. After scoring 31 goals and providing 12 assists in 48 games for AZ Alkmaar during the 2025-2026 season, Parrott completed a permanent transfer to La Liga side Real Betis for approximately €16 million. So far, he has recorded two goals and one assist in seven appearances for the Spanish club.

Parrott has also emerged as a decisive figure for the Republic of Ireland national team. Following a crucial hat-trick that secured Ireland a World Cup play-off spot, he netted four goals in four matches during the most recent international break. Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrímsson praised his rapid development, noting that the forward continues to improve without an apparent ceiling as Real Betis prepares to host Osasuna in La Liga.
