Lisandro Martinez apologises for angry outburst at Man United hierarchy

Lisandro Martinez has issued an apology to Manchester United sporting director Jason Wilcox, the club hierarchy, and manager Michael Carrick following clear-the-air talks. The defender had publicly criticized Wilcox, called for more investment, and questioned the quality of Carrick's squad after a 2-0 Champions League defeat against Atletico Madrid. Martinez posted on Instagram that the frustration of the loss caused him to express his feelings at the wrong time and place.

Manchester United consider the matter resolved and have not disclosed whether Martinez will face a fine. The Argentina international, whose contract expires next summer, drew public criticism from former United players Wayne Rooney and Roy Keane over the outburst. United have won just two of their opening nine matches across all competitions this season ahead of their upcoming match against Leeds.
