Ex-Newcastle ace Allan Saint-Maximin leads a very different life away from football and he recently turned down £22m.

Former Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin revealed that he turned down a £22 million offer for his business venture outside of soccer. Now playing for MLS side Charlotte FC, the 29-year-old created Helios, a Greek mythology-inspired card game. Saint-Maximin stated that he rejected the lucrative buyout offer because he wants to focus on expanding the free-to-play game and creating jobs rather than prioritizing money.
The French winger spent two and a half years developing Helios, drawing inspiration from his childhood interest in Greek mythology. After leaving Newcastle for Al-Ahli in 2023 for £23 million, Saint-Maximin had spells with Fenerbahce, Club América, and Lens before moving to Major League Soccer. While managing his venture, he has tallied two goals and four assists in 15 matches for Charlotte FC.
