Furman University defender Luke Munson underwent a leg amputation following complications from a horrific injury suffered against Duke on August 27. The 19-year-old college soccer star sustained a double fracture during the match, requiring additional surgeries on September 30 that ultimately could not save the leg.
Munson subsequently announced the conclusion of his soccer career on social media, expressing gratitude to his former teammates, coaches, and supporters. Prior to playing at Furman, the defender featured in two matches for Charlotte FC's MLS NEXT Pro affiliate.
