St. Louis City goalkeeper Roman Bürki was reported to be alert and in good spirits on Thursday following a head injury suffered during the U.S. Open Cup final. The goalkeeper had to be stretchered off the field during Wednesday night's championship match against the Columbus Crew in Columbus, Ohio.
Following Bürki's departure, backup goalkeeper Ben Lundt stepped in as the match ended 0-0 after 120 minutes. Lundt made a crucial save during the penalty shootout to secure a 5-3 victory, giving St. Louis City the first trophy in the club's history.
