Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen delivered a standout performance to deny Manchester City in a 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium. Yasin Ayari scored the decisive goal in the 11th minute to seal the win for Fabian Hürzeler's side. The result handed Manchester City their second consecutive Premier League defeat, following a 2-1 loss against Aston Villa.
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca suffered back-to-back league losses for the first time since taking charge. Despite Gianluigi Donnarumma returning in goal and Jérémy Doku featuring for the hosts, City could not break down Verbruggen. The victory moved Brighton up to third place in the Premier League table.
