The computer hacker who released documents which helped trigger the Premier League investigation into Manchester City will remain under witness protection after authorities in Portugal suspend the decision to end it.

Portuguese hacker and Football Leaks founder Rui Pinto will remain in witness protection after Portuguese authorities suspended a decision to remove him from the program. Pinto, who leaked documents that prompted the Premier League's investigation into Manchester City, had been scheduled to leave the program on Saturday. Portugal's Ministry of Justice stated the commission responsible failed to properly notify Pinto of the grounds for termination or give him the chance to challenge it.
Pinto has now been granted 10 days to assess a risk evaluation that concluded there is a low threat to his safety. The 37-year-old previously shared confidential financial records with German outlet Der Spiegel in 2018 regarding Manchester City, who were recently found guilty of breaching financial rules and are appealing.
