Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has become the first player in Major League Soccer history to win the Golden Boot in consecutive seasons. The 39-year-old secured the honor by scoring 26 goals in 31 appearances, finishing ahead of FC Dallas striker Peter Musa and Nashville's Sam Surridge. He is now the sixth player to claim the award twice.
Along with his 26 goals, Messi registered 17 assists to lead the league with 43 total goal contributions for the second consecutive year. Although Inter Miami missed out on top spot in the Eastern Conference, they will contest a three-game series against Columbus Crew in the MLS Cup play-offs.
