Mourinho's Man United finished second to Man City in 2017-18.

Jose Mourinho joked that he will be lucky to still be alive when the final verdict on Manchester City's financial charges is resolved. The comments follow the Premier League's confirmation that City were found guilty of 114 financial breaches between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons, which City have formally appealed.
Mourinho guided Manchester United to second place behind City in 2017-18 and could potentially receive a retrospective Premier League title if sanctions include title stripping. However, speaking to Corriere dello Sport, the Real Madrid manager downplayed expectations of an imminent conclusion to the lengthy appeals process.
