PDC Darts in huge calendar shake-up with new TV major and country hosting first ever event in blow to Luke Littler

The Professional Darts Corporation has announced a calendar update featuring the addition of a new televised major tournament. The inaugural European Open is scheduled to take place from June 18-20, 2027, in Salzburg, Austria, following the World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt. This new tournament increases the total number of PDC televised majors from 11 to 12, adding another requirement for Luke Littler in his bid to win every premier title.

The 160-player European Open will be broadcast on ITV next summer. Additionally, France will host its first PDC ranking competition in 2027, with the northern town of Lievin set to stage the fourth of 15 European Tour events.
