Arsenal teenager Max Dowman has earned a promotion to England's Under-21 squad under Lee Carsley for upcoming matches against Portugal and France. The 16-year-old will join fellow Arsenal players Ethan Nwaneri and Tommy Setford, who are currently out on loan at Borussia Dortmund and Stevenage respectively.
Dowman enters international duty following a three-match domestic ban after being sent off against Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta defended the young forward while emphasizing that he must learn to handle high-level demands and earn his playing time.
