Slavia Prague vs Arsenal to be banned in Champions League after UEFA rule change
Key Things to Know
  • UEFA regulations will ban Arsenal from facing Slavia Prague away in next season's Champions League league phase.
  • Rules prohibit the exact same fixture with the same home team for three consecutive league phase campaigns.
  • Arsenal previously won 3-0 at Fortuna Arena behind goals from Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino.
The Story in 60 Seconds

Arsenal will not be permitted to face Slavia Prague away in the Champions League league phase next season due to UEFA regulations. A rule change prevents the exact same fixture with the same home team from occurring in three consecutive seasons. Because Mikel Arteta's team visited the Fortuna Arena in consecutive campaigns, another trip there cannot be drawn in the 2026/27 league phase.

Arsenal previously defeated the Czech club 3-0 in Prague last season courtesy of a Bukayo Saka penalty and a Mikel Merino brace. While the Gunners could still theoretically host Slavia Prague at Emirates Stadium or meet them in the knockout rounds, repeating the away match in the league phase is banned.
