Fleetwood Town had to remove a player for their penalty shootout against Arsenal - BBC Sport's Ask Me Anything team explains why…

Fleetwood Town had to withdraw defender Jake Batty from their penalty shootout against Arsenal to ensure both teams fielded equal numbers. Following a 1-1 draw in regulation time, Fleetwood went on to defeat the Gunners 5-3 on penalties, securing their first EFL Cup quarter-final appearance in club history.
The reduction was required under IFAB Law 10.3 after Arsenal teenager Max Dowman was sent off in the second half. The rule dictates that if one team finishes with fewer players, the opposing side must reduce its numbers to match before or during kicks from the penalty mark.
